A three-hour shift keeping the studio fit to work in: cleaning, reclaim, shelves, restocking, and welcoming people in and helping them find their work. In exchange you get studio time of your own. Dalston Clay is a Community Interest Company. Everything the studio earns goes back into the studio, and keeping our prices low is the whole point of the place. We can only do that with help from the people using the space. That is what this is. THE TERMS This is an exchange, not a job. You give the studio time and you get studio time back. There is no pay, and no obligation to be here every week. What you give. One three-hour session. Check in using the WE book at the start of every session so your hours are recorded. What you get. One 3-hour Drop-In for every session worked, to use within six months. After your first three sessions, email info@dalstonclay.com to request your Drop-In plan. Further sessions are added at the end of each week. Booking. Book your shifts yourself, and cancel or reschedule from your Member Account up to seven days before. We would rather you kept to the same shift each week, but the slots are open. What is not included. The exchange is of time, not materials. Clay and firings are Weigh and Pay at the current rate, the same system everyone at the studio uses. We work only with stoneware. Turning up. There is no fixed obligation, but the studio plans around you. For planned time off, a month's notice. For anything on the day, post in the WhatsApp group. Repeated absence without a word is the one thing that does not work. Kilns are technicians only. What you can expect from us. Studio access in exchange for your time, support with your own practice, and a route on if you want it: Work Exchange is designed as a step towards Technician. Ending it. Either of us can step away with a month's notice. We would end it immediately only for serious misconduct, repeated absence without communication, or behaviour affecting someone else's safety or wellbeing. Who to contact.
