WHAT TO EXPECT

REQUIREMENTS Although Drop in sessions are supervised by a teacher (except Sundays and Mondays), they are not guided like our other sessions.  As such they are only suitable for you if you feel that you have enough prior experience with ceramics practice to the extent that you feel confident working without instruction.  In addition to this, before booking your first Drop-In session,  we also require that you have attended at least one Taster Session, Clay Day, five week course or a studio induction so that you feel confident in using the studio. If you intend on using the wheel during your drop-in session we recommend that you have gained proficient prior wheel -throwing skills, as one to one tutoring will not be available during Drop-in sessions.   PLEASE NOTE: Clay Days are every Saturday from 9.30am to 5.30pm. However, your Drop-In Saturday session allows you to join us for the duration of your session. Please adhere to the Clay Day schedule for your arrival. All tools and equipment are available to use including six pottery wheels. Clay, coloured slips, underglaze and brush on glazes are all included in the price of your Drop-in session. We have an extensive range of all of these but please feel free to bring your own. If you wish us to glaze your piece in the house white satin glaze (included in price of firing), please stamp W on your piece. If we do not see this stamp we will presume that you will be returning to glaze your piece. Firing of work is charged per piece as follows (the examples given are just to give an idea of size and apply to sculptural pieces as well) £5 small/medium (e.g trinket, cup or mug) £10 Medium (e.g Small to medium plant pot or vase) £15 Medium/large (e.g. fruit bowl or cake stand) We have eight lockers available at £10/month for small and £15 for large. These are really useful if you want to keep your tools, materials and personal items here for regular visits.
