WHATS ON OFFER

A series of Creative Wellbeing sessions during August 2023 especially for Hackney residents ages 13 to 19 and funded by Discover Young Hackney: the borough's annual youth arts and culture initiative connecting young people to opportunities in the arts.

Four 'Clay Days' on each Saturday



Ten 2.5hr ceramics sessions every 
Thursday and Friday at 2.30pm

AND

You will learn about: 

How to throw clay on the wheel
Handbuilding and other techniques
Opportunities for a future in ceramics
Meditation
Yoga
Positive psychology

6th August: POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY

On Sunday 6th August Clay Day at 11.30am psychologist Josh Dickson will lead a psycho-education workshop on the subject of Self-esteem

Josh is an accredited EMDR Consultant, an accredited drugs and alcohol counsellor and a licenced Heartmath coach.

He is the clinical director of the Resurface programme.

He has been working in private practice and as a consultant for Start2Stop since 2012 and has a special interest in treating trauma and promoting positive psychology.

Josh is an experienced group facilitator, lecturer and public speaker.​​

MEET THE TEAM 

Barnaby Hosking

Founder. Ceramics, art and meditation teacher

After graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2003, Barnaby has continued his contemporary art practice; exhibiting in galleries and museums internationally. His mediums range widely from video installation to sculpture, painting and printing and my subjects revolve around the process of making art and our connections with nature.

With a keen interest in mindfulness, Barnaby is also trained as a teacher of mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT). He lives and works between Dalston and his birthplace, North Norfolk, where he roams between barn, campervan and yurt.

Kristine Steffenak

Yoga Teacher. 

Medical Doctor and certified yoga Teacher

Kristine is the co-founder of Resurface. She is a medical doctor with experience as both a GP, emergency medicine and Obstetrics/Gyneacology, working in both the UK and Norway.

Kristine is also a RYT-500 yoga teacher. She completed her 200 hours yoga teaching in Kerala, India, in January 2019 and is certified by Yoga Alliance USA.  In June 2020 she completed her Power Yoga training with the London Power Yoga Company. She recently completed her 300 hours  TCTSY(trauma sensitive yoga) facilitation training with the Trauma Centre, Brookline, Massachusetts.
